A longtime activist, spoken-word artist, and slam poet, he earned his MFA from Rutgers University-Camden, where he was a Rutgers University Fellow. He had begun to see himself as a \u201crecovering poet\u201d but his children\u2019s growing love of words dragged him, mostly happily, off the wagon. Martin is the Adult Learning Lead Instructor for Project HOME, a nonprofit focused on ending homelessness and poverty within Philadelphia, and an adjunct professor at Rosemont College. His work has appeared in journals like&nbsp;<em>Apiary<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Philadelphia Stories<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>The Northern Virginia Review<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>The Northridge Review<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Conspire<\/em>, and others. His first book, a chapbook titled&nbsp;<em>Just\/More<\/em>, was released in January 2022 from Finishing Line Press.<br><br><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"434.28000000000003\" src=\"https:\/\/ci5.googleusercontent.com\/proxy\/OdHSqGDzDdVZZSpWlJ99IkaBoaNyNDWmovIoSI9cc1oxV-QGhJ_N-oDcwcoz-8E9yfKv6Z2CmKj8SjqFmPQ8wqeIPfDtOSOxvemxXbRNgZDmrpeIE8dFGlOmZDVoDHCoWERtI1UvcAKiZ0_l5ewRMopecJx9hw=s0-d-e1-ft#https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/e68aec4d8e7ac6550c96967da\/images\/79c48a71-dc0d-c526-71dc-49ea66175bf1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><br><strong>Duiji Mshinda Bio:<\/strong><br>DuiJi Mshinda is a veteran of the West Philadelphia poetry scene. He organized, hosted, and featured at events for a decade before pivoting into a consistent DJ ministry. Hid poetry discusses poverty, discrimination, mental health stigma, incarceration, and family life. His work was recently included in How we Stay Free: Notes On A Black Uprising.
